Born in New Zealand, Joanne works from her studio in Christchurch. She completed a BA (Hons) in 2009, studying Philosophy of Art, Art History and History. Her paintings are informed by a variety of subjects, including history, advertising and a massive concern for the natural environment. With an interest in fine detail, work is defined by the use of bold design which dances on the canvas and draws the eye around the scene. Joanne often uses irony to comment on events which produces quirky and thought provoking works.

Joanne has exhibited throughout New Zealand, as well as overseas, including an exhibition in the Chelsea Art District of New York City. Her works are held in collections in Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy (Benetton Collection). She has been nominated for several awards in New Zealand, including the Christchurch Art Awards 2016 (final 20), a finalist in the Perter Doig Marlborough Art Award 2016, a finalist in the International Clifton Art Awards 2015, and a finalist in the Impressions Art Awards 2014.

Work can be purchased by contacting Joanne via email or at upcoming exhibitions, which are shown on the Exhibitions page.
